I encourage everyone who goes to this site to play Yume Nikki. I understand it\'s not for everyone, but maybe your bizarre half will get you into it :D
To install, follow the instructions inside [installation]. AppLocale is ONLY if you for some reason don't want to or can't change your Regional/Language settings [or try it anyway if you can't get the game/installer to run]. But it is necessary to do one or the other to get the game to run!
To play, follow the instructions inside [gameplay]. I have a guide that teaches you how to get basic items to start off with, if you want it just ask me. Also if you need furthur assistance on the game, ask me, Ailuk, or Bloody.
Also I had a little trouble getting the game to run properly. So if you encounter these problems, here are the fixes I discovered:
- Problem: The screen is half black.
~ Solution: Press Alt+Enter to switch it to Windowed Mode. This won't let you play full screen, but you WILL be able to see things properly now.
- Problem: When you enter certain areas or encounter certain events [a good test for this is to try the Eye World door], you get an ongoing stream of 'Not Implemented' errors.
~ Solution: The RTP does not support MP3 playback. To fix it, open any MP3 files in the Music folder [check the Sound folder too just incase] and convert the MP3 files to WAV with an audio editor [like Audacity]. You must CONVERT, not simply rename! Then replace the MP3s [make sure to remove them!] with the WAVs. The game should now run properly, error-free!
